ANA Haitian Relief Efforts

In the wake of the devastation in Haiti, the American Nurses Association (ANA) would like to convey our deepest sympathies to those who have suffered incalculable losses. For nurses who have expressed an interest helping with the relief and recovery efforts, ANA encourages anyone interested in becoming a first responder to pre-register with one of the many disaster registries and response organizations that already exist. These groups ensure that volunteers will have access to training and will be utilized according to the appropriate response plans. For nurses who are unable to give of their time but wish to offer financial assistance, ANA is encouraging members and concerned health professionals to donate through the American Nurses Foundation (ANF).

Volunteer!
ANA is working closely with the federal government, non-governmental response community and other health professional associations to determine the type of assistance needed and when it might be safe to travel to Haiti. In particular, ANA has been in contact with ProjectHOPE, the American Red Cross, and the International Medical Corps. Nurses interested in becoming a first responder are encouraged to learn more here.

Donate Now!
For nurses who are unable to give of their time but wish to offer financial assistance, ANA is encouraging members and concerned health professionals to donate through the American Nurses Foundation (ANF). The American Nurses Foundation (ANF) is the charitable and philanthropic arm of ANA supporting the association’s work to promote the welfare and well being of nurses. 100 percent of the money donated will go toward disaster relief, including rebuilding the Haitian nursing infrastructure through ANA’s partnership with the International Council of Nursing (ICN), and assisting the National Association of Haitian Nurses, Association Nationale des Infirmières Licenciées d’Haïti. When donating, please type RELIEF in the Comment field to ensure your donation is distributed appropriately.
