Join Us in Giving Thanks
It’s that time of the year – time to give thanks for everything you’re grateful for. This year, ANA is especially grateful to the 220 Members of the United States House of Representatives that voted to pass the historic Affordable Health Care for America Act.
These Representatives stood up for what’s right – and many of them did so in competitive districts where anti-reform associations are already advertising against them. Already, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has spent $1.6 million targeting just nine Democrats in battleground districts who voted in support of health care reform.
As nurses, you have something even more valuable than money – credibility. A “thank you” from you means more than money to a Member of Congress. Please take time to thank these Representatives for standing up for quality, affordable health care for all.
Here are three easy ways you can say thanks:
1. Make a thank you poster and deliver it to the Representative’s District Office! Get some friends and colleagues to join you in making a “thank you” sign and delivering it – it doesn’t have to be fancy! Click here to see easy it is to show your thanks! If you share a picture of your delivery of the poster with ANA at gova@ana.org, we will send you a poster of the ad ANA ran in the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call.
2. Send a Letter to the Editor of your local paper! Every Member of Congress reads their hometown newspapers – they are sure to see your appreciation!
3. Thank your Representative on their Facebook site! Once you’ve searched for your Representative by name, click on “Pages” for a shorter list!
4. Tweet your thanks! If you aren’t sure if your Member has a Twitter site, click here for an alphabetical listing of all Congressional Twitter feeds – you can also search by state. (Not signed up with Twitter yet? It’s easy, click here!)
